How to star in the event of your own reality: Cook more

Only 40 percent of American cooking at least 5 times a week, and 75 percent classify using cooking frozen and processed foods. Here are three reasons Americans have to cook from scratch again, besides the fact that it's healthier and cheaper.

Here's the problem: If the word holiday Turkey Thanksgiving on average weighed in at 4 lbs. this year, and Americans eat Turkey, how 48 million pounds we eat Turkey? I'll accept the answer "absurdly huge amounts," "a lot more than I wouldn't have guessed", or "768 million lbs." And that is not counting all the fixings.

Two things strike me as remarkable about this American is very easy to cook at least five times a week, but 75 percent classify cooking by using frozen foods and ready).

Second, most Americans don't like Turkey. In fact, I find dozens of polls from America's favorite foods and Turkey did not crack the top 10 in any of them. When was the last time you roasted whole Turkey, even a small one, on the fourth day was not Sunday in the month of November? I rest my case.

So why does almost every American family, regardless of ethnic background, spend time doing something that they don't bother to cook-to-prepare meals they really don't like?
